We all know that gmail is a great application. What i didn’t know is the many supposedly “secret” functionality that it has. It’s OK to have a few surprises up your sleeve, but a whole arsenal of features? Google has a knack of doing “secret” stuff like this, if it’s good enough, tell the world, that’s my motto. Welcome to the class of Web 2.0

It’s everywhere…

I do mean everywhere, within a glance, it’s easy to spot a couple of sites that you visit about as frequently as The Nutty Professor would have snacks in a day. Yes, it’s official, web 2.0 is no longer a phenomenon, it’s  a staple..

Within the above picture though, how many recruitment sites are really considered web 2.0? There’s a few that i’ve seen online, Jobster and Krop are good examples, but none has truly captivated the web 2.0 audience, like you know, grabbed it by it’s balls.

If web 2.0 is a staple in these modern times, shouldn’t the recruitment industry be moving towards that direction. A great description of a web 2.0 jobseeker can be found here . Every other industry is embracing the step forward, but till this day, the NY Times has job classified section. A Classified section in a newspaper is an equivalent to a cassette tape in this day and age, an online Job board would be probably like a Compact Disc. I’m waiting for an mp3 equivalent. An Itunes for jobs per say. That would be wicked.

I think looking for a job should be as fun as looking for a friend on facebook.  If that day comes, then maybe, just maybe…

We’ll see a couple of notable “recruitment” additions to the class of Web 2.0.
